Jamie Reilly is a Professor at Temple University. His undergraduate training was in Anthropology and Russian Language at Tulane University. After college he taught elementary school in South Korea for a bit and eventually stumbled into an MA clinical program in Speech-Language Pathology where he developed an interest in progressive disorders of language and memory. Jamie pivoted disciplines to pursue a PhD in Cognitive Psychology. The cherry on top was a postdoctoral fellowship studying cognitive neuroscience of language under the legendary neurologist, Murray Grossman, at the University of Pennsylvania (2005-07).
Jamie worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida (2007-13). He left Florida and returned home to Temple in 2014 (just in time!). His primary faculty appointment is in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and he holds secondary and/or courtesy appointments in Neuroscience and Psychology. Jamie has recently contributed to news stories on dementia, cognition, and cognitive testing in the US Presidential election (2024). His work on the neuropsychology of cursing was featured in Discover Magazine and Slate. He serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Neuropsychology and serves on the editorial boards of Neuropsychologia, Aphasiology, Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, and Cognitive Science.
